In the Gospel for the Second Sunday of Easter, the Risen Lord appears to the disciples in the Upper Room.  “On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.”  When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side.  The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord” (John 20: 19-20).  The Risen Lord passes through the locked doors.  Nothing deters him from bringing peace of God to his frightened disciples.   I have been afraid too.   My fear of getting hurt by rejection, unrealistic demands, broken relationships, economic hardship, suffering, and more keeps my heart locked from God’s love.  Fear disables me from loving others as fully as I can.  I pray for the Peace of the Risen Lord to overcome the fear thwarting my love for others.  How has the Risen Lord helped release you from your fear to love someone in need?
